Ethereum Hits 2025 Peak: Co-Founder, Whales Shift Massive ETH

Ethereum’s recent surge to a fresh high in 2025 has sparked significant activity among major cryptocurrency figures. Notable personalities such as Ethereum co-founder Jeffrey Wilcke, BitMEX’s Arthur Hayes, and ShapeShift’s Erik Voorhees have executed trades worth millions of dollars in Ethereum (ETH) over the last few days.

Wilcke Transfers $9.22 Million in ETH Amid Ethereum Surge

Jeffrey Wilcke, one of Ethereum’s co-founders, has made headlines by transferring 9,840 ETH, valued at approximately $9.22 million, to the Kraken exchange. This move aligns with Ethereum hitting a new high for 2025. The transfer was recorded just an hour ago, according to data from Lookonchain.

Previously, Wilcke had moved 105,737 ETH into eight newly established wallets three months prior. Despite the recent transaction, he still holds a substantial amount of ETH, totaling 95,897, which is currently valued at around $401.6 million.

Wilcke’s latest transfer coincides with Ethereum’s breakout, as the cryptocurrency’s price reached $4,196.30, marking its highest point this year. Over the past 24 hours, Ethereum’s value surged by 5.52%, continuing the momentum initiated when it surpassed the $4,000 mark. This increased trading activity and renewed investor interest have helped sustain Ethereum’s strong performance, positioning it to possibly test higher resistance levels if the buying trend persists.

Arthur Hayes and Erik Voorhees Make Strategic Moves in the Market

Arthur Hayes, the co-founder of BitMEX, recently sold 2,373 ETH for $8.32 million when Ethereum was trading around $3,507. Just four hours ago, Lookonchain data indicated that Hayes moved 10.5 million USDC to repurchase ETH at a higher price. Hayes humorously acknowledged this buyback on social media, jesting about taking profits earlier.

Additionally, another major player, Erik Voorhees, an early Bitcoin advocate and founder of ShapeShift, sold 6,581 ETH for $27.38 million today when Ethereum was valued at $4,161. Nine years ago, Voorhees received 14,945 ETH from ShapeShift when the token was priced at just $7.74, which was worth $115,600 at that time and has now appreciated to $62.68 million. Despite his recent sale, Voorhees retains 556.68 ETH, estimated to be worth $2.33 million.

Whale Activity Signals Continued Confidence in ETH

According to Arkham Intelligence, a crypto whale known as ‘7 siblings’ has been actively selling ETH. The whale recently transferred $47 million worth of ETH to a new wallet and has sold $17.2 million worth so far. Meanwhile, wallet 0xF436 withdrew 17,655 ETH, valued at $72.7 million, from exchanges in the past 18 hours, likely for SharpLink Gaming. Another whale, 0x3684, spent 34 million USDT to purchase 8,109 ETH at a price of $4,193 each.

These significant acquisitions reflect ongoing confidence in Ethereum’s short-term prospects, despite other major holders taking profits. The robust demand continues to absorb the supply, contributing to the ongoing rally in the ETH price.

As Ethereum continues to capture the attention of investors worldwide, the actions of these influential figures underscore the dynamic nature of the cryptocurrency market and the strategic maneuvers within it.
